The
ORCA Swim Team
is a member of the
Clear Creek Swimming League (CCSL). The
CCSL is a nonprofit
organization that organizes competitive swimming events between local teams in
the Bay Area.
Competing Teams
The teams are divided into four divisions and are based on 3 season average
roster size: Each of the teams that comprise the
CCSL has two
representatives on the
CCSL Board of Directors. The
CCSL Directors and
their alternates perform the duties of the league, which include the following:
- Fee collection and budgeting - Providing liability insurance for the member teams - Handling publicity in the Clear Lake and Pasadena newspapers - Determining rules of competition - Setting cut-off times for Reserve and Champ meets - Scheduling clinics for stroke and turn judges, referees, starters and clerk of
course - Scheduling coaches’ coordination meetings - Providing ribbons for all meets, medals for the Championship Meet,
forms for score sheets, entry lists, and team rosters,
as well as entry cards - Providing coordination among the teams for the Championship Meet
- Keeping official score sheets for all the meets - Maintaining records of swimmers who break League Swim Records
During the swim season, roster chairpersons for the different team divisions
receive official league rosters for each team weekly. They carefully keep track
of changes to them, and notify all teams of these changes. The rosters determine
whether swimmers are eligible to participate in official meets.
